When Zelda becomes depressed after breaking up with Professor Carlin, Sabrina mixes old fashioned witchcraft with modern technology to help her mend a long time broken heart by going to the past and convincing her to marry the love of her life, a starving poet named Gabriel. While Sabrina's spell seems successful at first, upon returning to the present, she quickly learns that her spell changed the Spellman's history, for the worst.
Zelda is now in a loveless marriage with Gabriel who forces her to distance herself from the rest of the family. As a result, Sabrina lives in a rundown apartment near the train tracks with Hilda and Salem who have a failing ventriloquist act. Additionally, neither Josh nor her roommates know who she is and she works for Harvey as a delivery girl for the Chicken Shack. She then goes to the Visit the Past site and finds out it's not longer in existence thanks to how people's lives have been ruined. As a last resort she goes to her aunt Hilda and confesses what she did, who reluctantly suggests they go to Zelda and Gabriel's house since they have spell books. They welcome them in as Hilda distracts the poets in the living room. Gabriel overhears her attempting to use a time travel spell (she convinces him she lost her car keys) and suggests she doesn't do that. While Hilda is talking about Gabriel, he goes down to get her for this, and Sabrina uses a spell to once again take her back to the time of his proposal to Zelda. She convinces her that she is better off without her and Zelda agrees. She then returns to the present and now knows things are back to the way they should be. Zelda then confesses that she is better off without that loser and Hilda agrees. Sabrina returns to her home to find Morgan asking why she is home and not with Josh.
I need to mend the present and return to the past,
If I don't get my old life back, I'm gonna spend my days at the Chicken Shack,
Trivia[]
It turns out that in this alternate timeline, somehow Harvey has become the manager of the Chicken Shack. How this came about is unknown.
This is the same story line used 25 years earlier in the Logan's Run episode Man Out Of Time (written by David Gerold) where a scientist from the past comes to find out Why the nuclear holocaust started. If anyone notices, there are 4 similarities between the two episodes.
